In legal language:

Here at AlisonBeere.com I am committed to protecting your privacy and I have put together this Privacy Policy to describe my practices regarding the Personal Data I collect from my clients.

Please read the following carefully to understand my views and practices regarding your personal data and how I will treat it. By visiting www.alisonbeere.com  you are accepting and consenting to the practices described in this policy.

I trade under my actual name, Alison Beere. My postal address is P O Box 862, Pinelands, 7430, South Africa and physical address is 15 Ajax Way, Pinelands, 7405, South Africa.  I am not VAT-registered at the time of writing (June 2018).

If you would like to contact me for any reason, please use draw(at)alisonbeere.com and I will do my best to answer your questions.

1. What information do I collect from you?

I collect Personal Data and Anonymous Data from you when you visit my site or when you send me information or communications. “Personal Data” means data that allows someone to identify you, including, for example, your first name, family name, telephone number, physical address and e-mail address, as well as any information about you that is associated with or linked to, or could be linked to, any of the foregoing data.  “Anonymous Data” means data that is not associated with or linked to your Personal Data.  Anonymous Data does not permit the identification of individual persons. I collect Personal Data and Anonymous Data, as described below –

2. How I collect Personal Data

Contact Information (for example an email address)
You might provide me with your contact information, whether through a form on my website, making a purchase, or a response to one of my Newsletters, Feedback Forms, or (very occasional) Survey Requests.  If you, as a visitor to AlisonBeere.com, elect to register or make an enquiry through my website I will normally collect your first and last names and email address.

Usage information
I collect usage information about you whenever you interact with my website and services via Google Analytics. This includes which webpages you visit, what you click on, when you perform those actions, what language preference you have, and so on.

Billing information
If you make a payment via AlisonBeere.com, it will usually be via Paypal or Payfast, which require you to provide your billing details, a name, address, email address and financial information corresponding to your selected method of payment (e.g. a credit card number and expiration date or a bank account number).

Shipping information
At present (June 2018) I don’t ship physical products, but if that should change in the future, I would require you to provide your physical shipping address as well as the “Billing information” outlined above.

Social Media
Should you choose to sign in or interact with any of my social media platforms, I will not collect or share any personal data relevant to that platform.  The social media platforms themselves, however, may do so.  Facebook, for example, often collect personal data including name, age and location – but their use of that data is, as with all third party service providers, out of our control.  Please review social media providers’ own Privacy Policies for information on how they choose to use your data.

Voluntary
I also collect other types of Personal Data that you provide to me voluntarily when, for instance, you make a purchase, respond to surveys and questionnaires, or perhaps enter a competition. In order to improve my services to you, I may ask you to voluntarily complete confidential surveys.  If you provide me with feedback regarding my services via e-mail or a feedback form I will collect your data and may keep this stored securely within my office for periodical review.  If you do not wish to participate in a survey, however, please do decline to participate when asked.

3. How will I use the information I collect?

I use your Personal Data to provide you with excellent, customised service and to ship any goods or provide any online digital material to you as efficiently as possible – or to answer your questions or requests.  Generally any communication to you will be via email or Skype, or sometimes in person.  If you sign up to my mailing list I will also send you electronic newsletters with free cartooning learning material as well as details of my latest news, special offers, updates and reminders.

I may create Anonymous Data records from Personal Data by excluding information (such as your name) that makes the data personally identifiable to you. I use this Anonymous Data to perform statistical analyses of my customers so that I may look at trends and behaviours and this in turn helps me to plan and prepare for the future of the business.

4. Do I share your Personal Data with other companies?

I do not share your Personal Data with other companies.  I do not sell, trade, or rent the Personal Data collected from my  services to third parties.

If you send a testimonial or comment to me, or post it on another platform or site, I may post it on to my site or use it in my advertising and social media materials. I will attribute your testimonial to you by posting your name next to your comment on my site or advertising materials, if provided.

If another company acquires my business or my assets, that company will possess the Personal Data collected by it and us and will assume the rights and obligations regarding your Personal Data as described in this Privacy Policy and the terms under which you submitted your data.

5. Keeping your data up to date, changing your mind and opting out

Please note that at all times you are responsible for updating your Personal Data to provide me with your most current e-mail and postal address. I will consider it your responsibility to keep your Personal Data up to date so that I do not send any communications via emails or postal addresses that are invalid or are for any reason incapable of delivering to you.  Please note that this updated Privacy Policy may affect my use of Personal Data that you have provided to me prior to my notifications to you of the changes and if you do not wish to permit changes in my use of your Personal Data – you must notify me immediately that you wish to deactivate your account with me.

Should you decide to stop receiving further communications from me, you will have the opportunity to “opt-out” by following the Unsubscribe instructions provided in the e-mail you receive.

If you are contacting me by email please be sure to include your full name and address in your opt-out request in order to allow me to process your request for any changes to your preferences.

Please note that you may also request that all records of your Personal Data are then deleted from my system permanently – but again, it is up to you to make this request to me via email.

6. Other websites

Other websites that AlisonBeere.com may advertise on or be featured on may collect your Personal Data but the collection of your data on these sites is the responsibility of the site and not Alison Beere.  This Privacy Policy applies only to the use and disclosure of Personal Data that I collect while you use my services.

7. Social media, social commerce and other third parties

I work with trusted third parties, including social network sites like Facebook and Instagram and I may use application developers who specialise in social media so I can connect to your social networks. Other social networks I use may include Twitter, Pinterest and Youtube. All of these companies operate Third Party Sites.  I cannot control how your data is collected, stored, used or shared by Third Party Sites or to whom it is disclosed.  Please be sure to review the privacy policies and privacy settings on your social networking sites to make sure you understand the information they are sharing. If you do not want a Third Party Site to share information about you, you must contact that site and determine whether it gives you the opportunity to opt-out of sharing such information. Alison Beere is not responsible for how these third parties may use information collected from or about you.
